WESTON, Fla.—A Florida woman was denied the chance to compete in the Miss Florida beauty pageant after officials discovered she formerly held another title they didn’t approve of: Miss Exxxotica.
Despite the fact the Miss Exxxotica competition was not pornographic nor intended for a pornographic movie, it took place at an adult industry trade show, and photos from the competition wound up on adult websites.
The woman, Caroline Schwitzky, competed and was dubbed Miss Exxxotica in 2008 when she was 18 years old, winning $2,000.
She was crowned Miss Weston (Fla.) USA in February, though she stepped down after pageant organizers received “a flood” of emails demanding she give up the crown.
“We are sad to hear Ms. Schwitzky is being discriminated against because of her Miss Exxxotica title,” J. Handy of Victory Tradeshow Management, Exxxotica’s parent company, told AVN. “The competition, and Exxxotica as a whole, is a celebration of sexy. It sounds more like the Miss Weston pageant is looking for their 15 minutes of fame, all while preaching from atop their moral soapbox.
“Carolina is a strong and beautiful woman who embraces her sexuality and should be praised. That is what the Miss Exxxotica competition is all about.”
Schwitzky told Florida TV station WSVN that she wasn’t perfect, but "I think we all deserve a second chance."
