Dead Man Hanging, the new label of veteran actor-director Rod Fontana, will debut its first title, Smokin Cracka, on Tuesday, September 13, through Lava Releasing. It’s the first of a series of monthly releases under an exclusive contract between the two companies.
“What can we say about Rod?” asked Lava’s Bob East rhetorically. “He is considered one of the top gonzo directors by many in the industry and has done work for just about every company that releases gonzo.
“Smokin Cracka may be a bit controversial for some, but Rod pulls it all together without offending anyone in the end. Every title will be different, including an all-girl release as the third one. We know one thing about Rod — always expect the unexpected.”
Fontana has just come back from shooting for Frenzy Films, also distributed by Lava, in Costa Rica, where he completed five movies, some with a comic edge such as Ass Pirates of the Caribbean. He will be returning to Costa Rica for additional shooting later this month.
