FlickSmart and Adult DVD Explorer Adult DVD Explorer, two of the Web's largest Adult DVD rental services, reached an agreement last month to merge their DVD rental operations under the FlickSmart banner.
Under the terms of the agreement, all Adult DVD Explorer Rental customers were merged into FlickSmart's existing customer base. Adult DVD Explorer's DVD retail business will not be affected by the deal.
After six years' experience in the Adult DVD retail business, Adult DVD Explorer launched a rental service in 2003 as a way to provide its customers with a wider array of services and broaden their reach to new customers. With the recent growth of Adult DVD Explorer's retail business, the rental business was absorbing too many resources and DVD Explorer wanted to focus on maintaining a high standard of service to their retail customers.

The transfer of the rental program took place on July 1. DVD Explorer members were informed that their account information had been transferred to FlickSmart in advance, but they would have to activate their account and provide valid credit card information to complete the transfer (to maintain member privacy and alleviate any security concerns, credit card data was not transferred to FlickSmart). As a bonus, FlickSmart agreed to give each transferred member two free DVDs produced by Private North America and honor any outstanding membership credits.
