Fleshbot Films Bows With Fully-Restored Ed Wood Porn Flick

The people behind Adult Web magazine/blog Fleshbot are bringing you the lost porn of fabled B-movie director Ed Wood, Jr. with their creation of Fleshbot Films.

Wood, who created some truly terrible experiments in mainstream filmmaking such as 1959’s Plan 9 From Outer Space, wrote, produced, and directed several Adult films toward the end of his career, shooting both a softcore and hardcore version of Necromania: A Tale of Weird Love over a three-day period in 1971.

After a brief theatrical run and an appearance by the softcore version on VHS over 10 years ago, the hardcore version of Necromania, Wood’s final film, was discovered in a warehouse in 2001 and is now being distributed for the first time as the initial offering from Fleshbot Films.

Wood, meet porn. Porn, meet Wood.

“It has a story and all that stuff, but it’s very signatory Ed Wood,” Fredrik Carlstrom, executive producer for Fleshbot Films, told AVNOnline.com. “It’s really corny and weird. It has weird music and weird cuts – it’s hilarious.”

The fully-restored film is the first release from Fleshbot Films, but several more are set to follow, starting with two of Wood’s other dalliances in the Adult genre – Shotgun Wedding and The Only House in Town.

Wood is widely considered to be the worst filmmaker to ever sit in the director’s chair, but has nonetheless – or perhaps, because of it – built a strong cult following, which grew with the release of director Tim Burton’s fanciful 1994 biopic, Ed Wood. And Wood, who died in 1978, has even inspired a religion – Woodism.

The release of these long-lost Adult films is expected to create quite a stir among Wood’s fans, who can expect the director’s signature style has transferred to this genre as well.

“The first time you see Plan 9, you’re like ‘What the fuck? This is awful.’ You see the strings hanging from the flying saucers and the cheesy costumes and everything. So the first time I saw Necromania, I was just dumbstruck with how bad it is. But as with all the Wood films, the more you look at it, the more you can appreciate his unique genius,” Fleshbot editor John d'Addario told AVNOnline.com.

“It really is this unique and special thing. There are all these little moments and touches in it that are very much Ed.”

In addition to releasing Wood’s Adult catalog, Fleshbot Films will also be looking for other projects to distribute. Carlstrom spoke to the possibilities of distributing animated and CGI porn, among other things.

“Whatever we release is going to be something that people aren’t accustomed to seeing in the world of Adult film,” d'Addario said. “But I don’t think Wicked and Vivid have anything to worry about. We’re not really going for that same demographic.”

Necromania is available for pre-order through Amazon.com and will be shipped on October 25. Fleshbot Films is online at www.fleshbot.com/films/.
