Flava Works to Self-Distribute

Flava Works, known for its popular Dorm Life and Thugboy gay black DVD series, announced that they are leaving 1 Distribution as their exclusive distributor to distribute their movies themselves.

Dorm Life 9: Savor The Nutt from the Dorm Life series is the first title that the company, now based in Miami, Florida, will distribute on its own.

"We grew to a point where it just makes sense to distribute ourselves," said Dekenric Wiley, chief operating officer. "We have a very recognizable brand, which we cross-promote with our websites, DVDs, and magazines as well as through a lot of promotions in clubs and at events. Self-distributing will only help us to reach even more people and enable us to give more personalized attention to individual stores."

Ramping up for self-distribution has been long in the making for Flava Works. Last year the company acquired new warehouse and office space in Miami to house the distribution channel. Flava Works has also hired Jeff Fisher as the company's national sales director. Fisher brings a 35-year career in mainstream sales to his position.

The Flava Works catalog includes over 32 gay black and Latin DVD titles, including Chino's Dorm, which is nominated for a GAYVN award for Best Ethnic-Themed Video. A new DVD is released every month.
