The People Like Us Show, billed as the first erotica trade show to be staged in this south of England locale, will be held from May 16-18 at the Brighton Centre. And organizers hope timing it up to the annual Brighton Festival will help draw showgoers as well as adult-oriented businesses to the seaside venue for the new show.
"This is a brand new adult lifestyle show I am working on with Penthouse UK," said show spokesman Jim Deans in correspondence with AVN Onlnecom. "It is organised by Norcro, who have 20 years plus in the exhibition industry...Penthouse magazine is still the second biggest name in the magazine industry. Plus (we are) making allies of the other big organizations to bring an erotic show of the same standard to the UK."
Deans is no stranger to adult trade shows - he has worked on or held stands at several top adult entertainment shows and festivals in the past, and admits he'd like to see the People Like Us Show - or Plus Show, for short - be and remain a cross between shows like AVN's popular Internext and Adult Entertainment Expos and the older Hot D'Or festival, what with the seaside location.
The Plus Show's plan includes several category zones, according to the show's Website.. The stage area will present different erotic fashion and entertainment shows; the Video Zone will feature various companies showing large selections of erotica on video and in print; the Art Zone will display, for view and purchase, erotic and sensual art; the Interior Zone will show "everything from spa tubs to sensual, decadent bedding"; the Universal Zone will show fashions, accessories, and adult toys and novelties; and, the Fetish Zone "needs little explanation; there, you will be invited to indulge your wildest excesses."
