A small town firefighter made national headlines this week, as news broke that 17 of her fellow firefighters had walked off the job in protest that she moonlighted as a porn star.
Although Alexas Jones, the firefighter in question, is quick to point out that’s not exactly what happened.
“I’ve been a firefighter for seven years, but none of this porn stuff has ever been an issue with the fire department because my husband and I have never brought it to the fire department,” Jones told AVN.com
Last week a Keyes Fire Department cadet was disciplined for viewing adult Websites while on duty, then allegedly defrauding those Websites by canceling payments he made to obtain passwords enabling him to access those sites.
One of the sites in question has been reported as being ChantelLace.com, the Website of Jones alter ego, Chantel Lace.
Complicating matters, the assistant chief that disciplined the cadet was Jones’ husband, Rodger.
Lace appeared in less than 20 hardcore adult videos from 1998 to 2000. Other than that she has appeared in the occasional fetish video, and still performs in wrestling videos once a month, and catfight videos once every six months.
According to Jones, the cadet had secretly taped his disciplinary hearing – although a third party had sat in on that – and presented the tape to a grievance board he had requested.
The chief of the Keyes Fire Department, Eddie Jones, Rodger’s father, was on the board.
After seeking Rodger Jones’ permission to listen to the tape, the board found that Rodger Jones had acted appropriately.
That is when the walkout occurred – though it wasn’t 17 firefighters – it was six firefighters and 11 cadets who walked off the job in protest, under the leadership of Captain Herb Collier, who had sat on the grievance board but disagreed with its decision.
Collier is rumored to have led two walkouts from fire departments in the past. AVN.com has not been able to verify this at this time, though the existence of the rumors has been confirmed by other firefighters in the same county.
Collier decided to ignore protocol, which would have been to let the matter be handled internally in front of the Keyes Fire District Board. Instead, he took the matter to the press – who leaped on the sensationalistic qualities that are obviously inherent to the story.
Jones even bumped celebrity murderer Scott Peterson, who is from nearby Modesto, off the front page for a day or two.
It wasn’t her porn career that caused the walkout – Jones says that was an open secret. “Everyone knew about it, but nobody talked about it.”
Keyes has a population of 4,500 and is located just outside Modesto. In a town that small, Jones suggested, a career in porn is impossible to hide.
“I’ve never hidden anything. If anyone has ever asked me about anything I’ve been honest and truthful about it – but I’ve never brought it to the Fire Department,” she said.
Jones suggests that Collier saw the opportunity to make a power grab and is seeking to exploit her past in order to do so.
“The first story he [Collier] gave the media was that they had walked out because of the reinstatement of the assistant chief. That’s not why they went into the grievance committee,” she said.
The Turlock Journal reported on January 17 that one of the reasons for the walkout was that Rodger Jones had been arrested on charges of pimping and carrying a concealed weapon in June of last year in Modesto, but that the board of directors had decided to reinstate him after a police investigation found he was fit for duty.
Those charges the Journal mentioned, in addition to a charge against Alexas Jones for prostitution, stem from a dancing gig that Alexas went on – with Rodger accompanying for security reasons.
Jones had unwittingly joined an agency that was being investigated. On her first day on the job she was sent out on a gig that turned out to be a sting.
All charges were dismissed – the detective that was supposed to draw her into proving that she was a prostitute had taped their conversation – she had said no to everything.
The concealed weapon was Alexas Jones’ – and she had a permit for it. She had asked her husband to hold her purse, which contained the gun, after the undercover cops began trying to go through her purse – before she knew they were cops.
“Then he went and told everybody that ‘We’re doing a walkout because he fired this kid for surfing porn sites on his own time. But it wasn’t just a porn site, it was his wife’s site,’” Jones said.
Jones says it wasn’t; according to her the Website the cadet visited and then allegedly defrauded, was chantel-lace.com and one other site.
That Website, and all other Websites registered to the same owner, were recently taken down.
The exact date the sites were taken down are unknown, but the domain names are still registered.
If what Jones says is true, that deflates one of the arguments against her husband – that he disciplined the cadet because it was his wife’s site that the cadet defrauded. Jones wasn’t out of pocket because of the alleged fraud.
Jones also dismissed the concept that her husband of seven years would have acted against the cadet out of jealously. She was still performing in videos after they met – and even after they married.
“He’s a very liberal person. He accepted me for what I did and everything that I am,” Jones said. “And for them to say that he’s just upset because that cadet went on my Website ...you know what, there have been other members [of the fire department] that have joined my Website and he’s never said anything.”
“We’ve had firefighters come up and say ‘I’ve seen you wife’s site, too. What are you going to do about it?’ Well there’s nothing I can do about it,” Jones said. “Just because you go and look at it doesn’t mean anything. It’s if you do it while on duty and you’re caught doing it while on duty, you know, while you’re at the fire department.”
The site in question does belong to someone she knows, someone who complained to her about the alleged fraud.
“Because I used to be in the industry – although I still actually do some fetish movies – I still have friends who are in the industry and they contacted me because this person was out of Turlock, which is three miles from me and he used the password ‘firewalker,’” Jones said. “So they contacted us because they knew that my husband’s an assistant chief and I’m a firefighter, because they thought he might be too.”
“Most firefighters, they can’t get out of that circle – everything they do pertains to fire something,” she explained.
Jones was then sent the billing information that showed the user’s name, the time he had accessed the Websites in question, and how long the passwords the cadet had bought stayed active before payment was cancelled.
Jones recognized the name automatically as one of the cadets at the Keyes Fire Station. The times provided her were times that the cadet was on duty.
Jones says that by law, since there was a complaint brought to her husband’s attention, he legally had to look into it.
So he confronted the cadet, who had only been with the department for three months, and asked if he had been surfing adult Websites while on duty; he also asked about the alleged fraud. The cadet denied having done either.
But Rodger Jones had the billing information in his hand.
“Had the kid told the truth, he would have told the kid not to do it again and that he was lucky that the person who owned the sites wasn’t pressing charges against him,” Jones said.
Mainstream media have been reporting claims by Collier, that the cadet accessed the Websites in question from his own house on his own time.
Collier suggested that it would have been impossible to access the sites while on duty because the firehouse has no Internet access; it has no broadband access – but it does have telephone lines, all one needs to view a Website via a modem.
Last night the Keyes Fire District board of directors decided to place Rodger Jones and his father on administrative leave while the matter is investigated.
The investigation is expected take 30 days.
“I don’t regret my past. I regret that this has jeopardized the fire department. I don’t regret what I’ve done though,” Jones said.
“While I was doing the movies, I was putting myself through college. I’ve been trying to change my life so that I can sit there and tell my kids what I do for a living. I don’t want to tell them I’m a porn actress," Jones said.
But she'll play out the hand life has handed her - she's decided to start performing in adult videos again.
“I’ve been having all of these problems trying to go straight per se; it’s been just one problem after the next. So I said, ‘You know what, forget it. I’m just going to go back.’ I need to make a living somehow – and I actually enjoy it.”
And it doesn't hurt that she's been getting a lot of traffic since the story hit. And a lot of sign-ups.
