The fans of adult entertainment will have their voice heard next Thursday at the 13th annual Fans of X-Rated Entertainment (F.O.X.E.) awards, where the performers they have chosen to recognize are honored at an event that includes nude dancing and a broast of Seka.
The approximately 1600 member strong F.O.X.E , an organization for fans of adult entertainment that was founded by industry pundit Bill Margold, honors performers in three categories each year – the Vixen of the Year, given the fan’s favorite new starlet, the Female Performer of the Year, and the Male Performer of the Year.
Fans vote for their favorite performers via write-in ballots each year. The only rule is that the same person can't win Performer of the Year award more than three times. For instance last year, Jill Kelly won Female Peformer of the Year for her third time, and so she is no longer eligible for the award.
Although votes are still coming in, there are two categories that have clear runaway victories, while the third is still too close to call.
The Vixen of the Year is Kickass Pictures exclusive Mary Carey, whose campaign for governor catapulted her to prominence with the help of mainstream news coverage. “Mary Carey is fun, she’s bubbly, she’s indicative of our industry,” Margold said, postulating that her mainstream TV appearances were played a large role in Carey’s win. “It’s become more and more evident that people vote for performers who have been seen in the public limelight.”
Mary Carey, currently doing a promotional tour in Canada, told AVN.com that she was thrilled to win the award. "This is the only award that matters, because it's from the fans, and they're the ones that actually buy the videos. And I’m glad my fans enjoy my whoring, it feels great to be acknowledged for being an amazing slut.”
Margold also credits TV with helping Lexington Steele win the Male Performer of the Year award for the second year in the row. “Lexington has the Playboy TV show that helps push him to the top. He was always second or third, then he got the show and he won. It just goes to show you have to keep you name and image in the public eye, or the public will forget you.”
One performer the public isn’t likely to forget soon is Seka, a platinum blonde icon of 80’s porn, whom Margold describes as having, “true camera magnetism, and that’s what made her the all-American wet dream.”
The Seka broast will be hosted by Teri Weigel, and will be the highlight of the night. Seka will be honored her peers and fans while sitting on stage. Margold coined the term "broast," because speakers are asked to avoid any biting remarks such as those often made during a roast, because in the past honorees have had their feelings hurt.
There is no charge to attend the F.O.X.E. awards for member's of the adult industry. There will be no alcohol served at the event because there will be full nudity with various feature dancers taking the stage including Alicia Rio, Pandora Dream, Tina Toy, Amber Peach, Samantha Slater, Sasha Brabuster and closing the show Lady Victoria Spencer.
The awards will be held at the same location as last year’s, the Mayflower Ballroom at 234 South Hindry Avenue in Inglewood.
