Barbara Scott, a former stripper who has run for governor twice, says she plans to do so a third time.
In a news release, Scott says she plans to run on “a people’s platform” when she enters the Democratic primary this spring. The governor’s election will be held in November.
“I never realized how many every day working people are struggling to make ends meet,” she said in a statement.
“Not knowing much about politics at the time, my main reason for running was to help the working people get their voice heard.”
Scott, who at one time danced under the name Chayenne, is known for staging a striptease in downtown Las Vegas in 1998 to publicize her candidacy at the time. She received 1,500 votes or about 2 percent of the vote.
In 2002, she ran again and received 20 percent of the vote. But ultimately won notoriety for suing fellow Democrat Joe Neal whom she claimed had called her a “dumb blonde.” It was revealed later that Scott had made the comment and not Neal.
