The Smoking Gun is reporting today that a former employee of a Hooters restaurant in Alabama claims he was fired after complaining about a female corporate trainer who allegedly suggested waitresses have sex with customers for extra money.
Jarman Gray, a former assistant manager at the eatery claims he was fired when he complained about a trainer named Cat who told waitresses that they were “the ones with the pussys and you are in control because of that.” She then said “If you need the extra money, go ahead and suck a dick or fuck a customer if the money is right.”
Gray said in his lawsuit that he brought the matter to corporate officials after his waitresses complained about the comments. But shortly after he contacted corporate bosses about the issue, he was fired by the owner of the Auburn, Ala. franchise, Darrell Spikes.
Gray is suing for sexual harassment and for retaliation. Spikes, he said, told him “I’m top dog, you don’t call corporate. You longer have a job here.”
Gray had worked at the restaurant for nine months. He filed his lawsuit just after receiving a “right to sue” letter from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He had filed a complaint with the agency nearly a year ago, claiming he was fired for “reporting sexual harassment in the workplace.”
