LOS ANGELES—Evil Angel on Monday unveiled Back To Dark, the latest release from seasoned director and two-time AVN Male Performer of the Year, Vince Karter.
Karter brings a new level of art direction to this project, with imaginative locations and set decoration lit dramatically in red and black tones. Stylized teases and sex mesh with an overall dark aesthetic designed to complement the theme of each scene: he captures nasty behavior in symbolic locales (at the Gates Of Hell, inside the Devil’s Room) and in more earthbound places (an industrial garage, a strip club). Vince collaborated with his significant other, fellow adult star Ivy Ireland, to create the movie’s special look.
The cast features Aviana Violet, Summer Vixen, Ravyn Alexa and Ivy, all of them in distinctive makeup and latex or leather, while Karter appears in every scene. “Back To Dark marks a major turning point in my work as a director,” Karter says. “When I discovered my partner, Ivy, and her remarkable talent for artistic direction, it felt natural to combine our strengths and push my productions into a new visual dimension. The inspiration behind this movie comes from the darker aesthetic of early 2000s Evil Angel productions. We wanted to create that feeling through a visual identity built around darkness, latex, Gothic influences, and a rich palette of black and deep red.
"Red became the symbol of passion, desire, intensity and raw emotion, while black represents mystery and temptation. Makeup, wardrobe, latex styling, accessories, lighting and set decoration were carefully designed to create a unique visual experience. Each scene was filmed in a different location, allowing every chapter to develop its own identity while remaining part of the same artistic universe. I am incredibly proud of this project. It represents a new artistic direction while remaining faithful to the intensity and authenticity my audience expects.”
As the movie opens, Aviana Violet sits for makeup, chooses wardrobe and tries on lingerie while talking about the scene in voiceover. “Her beauty and commanding presence make her the perfect introduction to the film,” says Vince. “The scene revolves around the symbolic Gates Of Hell, which remain a visual centerpiece throughout the sequence.” Aviana teases on a leather couch in front of an eerie, red-lit Gate that looks like a steel vault to open the scene. She wears high-heeled boots and a black latex ensemble: bra, fingerless gloves and panties. “I had an amazing time,” recalls Aviana. “Vince had such a clear vision, which made the entire experience enjoyable.”
Summer Vixen gets her hair done and then dresses in black leather fetish gear—a harness-like bra, panties with metal fittings, and black heels. “Her scene takes place inside the Devil’s Room, a striking location defined by dramatic architecture and a mystical atmosphere that complements the film’s dark identity,” explains Vince. Summer teases on the black-quilted, carved-wood bed in a black-and-red-lit chamber with black spikes coming out of the walls.
Says Vince, “Summer fully embraces the intensity of the project with confidence and elegance.”
Ravyn Alexa wears black latex lingerie, black fishnets, and heeled, knee-high boots in bright red for her double penetration threesome with Vince and Milan Ponjevic. “Her scene was filmed inside a raw, industrial garage,” reports Vince, “where the contrast between the rugged environment, the latex styling and the refined artistic direction creates one of the strongest visual identities of the movie.”
Vince calls Ravyn’s scene, “one of the craziest and most intense double penetration performances I have ever filmed.”
At last, Vince and his movie’s artistic director come together on screen. “Ivy Ireland closes the film with a remarkable double penetration performance alongside Jimmy Bud and myself,” says Vince. “Filmed inside a strip club, the scene perfectly embodies the visual identity of Back To Dark.” In the black-and-red-hued environment, Ivy crawls around a stripper pole. She flaunts her body in black fetish lingerie, fishnets and platform heels, crawling to Vince and Jimmy as they watch from a black leather banquette. “Ivy delivers what I consider a masterpiece performance, bringing her unmistakable personality to every interaction with the camera,” says Vince. Speaking of the whole project, he adds his thanks for Ivy’s “extraordinary creative contribution.”
