DVSX and Empire Video Distributors Form XCartel

DVSX has recently joined Empire Video Distributors to announce the launch of XCartel, a brand new distribution company. XCartel has been formed primarily as a home for directors who want to own their own lines.

“We’ve run into a lot of extremely talented directors who want to control their own destiny,” said DVSX co-owner Alex Ladd. “But they don’t necessarily have the expertise in sales, marketing and distribution. With XCartel, they can concentrate their energies on doing what they do best and we can do the heavy lifting on their behalf.”

That’s exactly what Empire Video Distributors president Roy Karch (not to be confused with the veteran director of the same name) has been planning to do for quite some time, but he’s been waiting for the stars to properly align.

“I’ve said all along that I was only going to do it if I could do it the right way,” said Karch. “So when the opportunity to join forces with [DVSX Co-Owners] Javier [C.] and Alex came up, I immediately jumped at it. We all bring specific things to the table, and XCartel is the perfect marriage of those various talents and resources.”

One of first two features from XCartel.

Joining the company as head of production is Adam Jay. Jay has previous experience in mainstream production, marketing and online creative direction.

“We’re going to use high-gloss “o-card” boxes as well as a tasteful amount of foil,” Jay said. “It's important that the quality of the packaging reflects the quality inside. Our partner directors are putting their heart and souls into these films and they deserve nothing less.”

DVSX national sales manager Ed Kail, an industry veteran, will represent XCartel as well.

The company’s first two releases are the interracial gangbang movie Bangin’ White Hos from director Bobby Manila’s Climax 9 Productions, which streets on March 21, and the all-girl title Lesbian Training from Penetration Video and director Jordan, which streets on March 28.

“XCartel is the perfect name for us,” said Javier C. “It’s all about independent individuals coming together, united in a common cause. In this case, it just so happens the cause is porn.”
