Dump Truck Crashes into Adult Video Store

A dump truck delivering 20 tons of dirt to businesses along Sixth Street tipped over and crashed into an adult video arcade Tuesday.

Sheri Costa, a spokeswoman for the city Department of Public Works, told the San Francisco Chronicle that Sukhdev Singh, a driver for Economy Trucking, was dumping a load of dirt to fill in the sub basements of several businesses when it tipped over and crashed into the Liberty Bookstore, shattering glass and dumping dirt into its interior where it houses private video booths.

A thermal imager was used to determine whether anyone was buried under the pile of dirt in the store. But no one was injured.

It was unclear how the accident happened. Singh blamed the road which he claimed was uneven.

The accident was the second such accident in two years involving adult stores at the corner of Sixth and Mission streets. On December 2003, a bus crashed into the Golden Gate Adult Superstore, across from the Liberty Bookstore, injuring 17 people.
