For most, New Year’s is a time for setting goals for the future, but Darkside Entertainment plans to hit 2005 running, adding a founding member of N.W.A to their roster of directors, and launching additional series that will effectively double their current release schedule. .
Darkside's stable of directors in 2005 will include former N.W.A member DJ Yella. Yella will direct Straight Outta Compton, slated for a March release, and Westside Stories.
"I'm very excited our crew includes DJ Yella," Darkside owner Nicky Starks said. "He's a great hip-hop artist in his own right and his camerawork, editing and directing are tight. I gave him the greenlight to run with whatever he likes and I'm sure he'll do his best work at Darkside."
Performer/director’s Byron Long and Mr. Marcus will continue to direct their lines for Darkside and add new ones to their plate. Long will shoot Supersized, a new series, and will continue to direct the Tenderonis series. Marcus will also contribute a yet-to-be named series as well as his current interracial series, Made for Hardcore.
