Delaware Wins Fight by TKO

Adult performer Dick Delaware emerged with a fast technical knockout win Thursday night in a mixed-martial-arts fight in front of a raucous crowd at the L.A. Entertainment Center.

Delaware, whose real name is Aaron Brink, needed just 1 minute, 12 seconds to beat John Mierzwa in a heavyweight brawl for the Universal Above Ground Fighting (UAGF) organization.

Delaware and Mierzwa engaged in a brutal exchange of punches in the center of the ring only seconds after the opening bell, sending the mob into a frenzy. Mierzwa forced Delaware into the ropes briefly before Delaware regained control and nearly threw Mierzwa out of the ring, prompting the referee to separate them.

When the fight started again, Delaware landed three more shots, the two collided and tumbled hard to the canvas and Mierzwa grabbed the back of his right leg in pain. The referee quickly determined he could not continue.

“It felt good to get back in there, I was surprised that I was not nervous at all,” said Delaware, who improved his record to 25-10-1 in his seven-year pro career. The fight was his first since losing to Mike Whitehead on March 25.

The 6-foot-3, 218 pound native of Huntington Beach who has over 300 sex scenes on his resume said that he nearly did not fight because of girlfriend troubles.

“It almost made me lose my focus for this," he said. "I figured I had to get out and fight and make a little bit of money, otherwise I’d be sitting at home watching ESPN.”

He thanked his old friend Bobby Hoffman for coming to support him and helping him train. Mierzwa (4-3), who left immediately afterward to get his leg examined, was not available for comment.

Delaware flew to Reno, Nev., after the bout to prepare for another fight Saturday for the IFC, and did not want to place too much emphasis on Thursday's win.

“It’s just something I accomplished temporarily. I have to get a lot more wins before I can be satisfied,” he said. “That fucking guy was strong. I can’t believe how strong he was.”
