Delaware to Fight in Ring of Fire Saturday

Adult film star Dick Delaware will fight Andre Walker in a K-1 Rules Super Fight that will be the main event of Ring of Fire 19: Showdown this Saturday night in Castle Rock, Colo.

The fight at the Douglas County Events Center will mark Delaware’s debut in a professional kickboxing match that is an official K-1 qualifier. He will also fight Homer Moore for the Rage in the Cage heavyweight title on Sept. 30 at the Glendale Arena in Phoenix, and is in talks with King of the Cage promoters for a light heavyweight title fight on pay-per-view in October.

“K-1 is a stand-up fight. Even if I’m not the best kicker in the world, I am one of the best punchers in the world and if I nail one of these kickboxers in the chin, they’ll go down like anyone else,” said the 30-year-old fighter whose civilian name is Aaron Brink.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Huntington Beach is 25-12-1 in his eighth year as a professional mixed martial artist.

“In all my fights in MMA, my opponents clench with me or try to take me down. For once I’ll be in a contest where he has no choice but to stand with me,” he said.

The Ring of Fire fight will be three three-minute rounds with a fourth if necessary. Under K-1 rules, the combatants will wear 10-ounce boxing gloves, instead of the grappling gloves worn in a mixed-martial arts bout.

If he can beat Walker, a veteran kickboxer from Denver who is favored, Delaware is virtually guaranteed a chance to fight at a K-1 event in Japan, which is the world capital of the sport.

“And K-1 pays $30,000 to $60,000 for one bout,” Delaware said, citing his main motivation.

Delaware fought the current heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Andrei Arlovski, in 2000, losing via a submission hold in the first round at the Trump Taj Majal in Atlantic City, N.J. Although he has been close to getting the call a few times, he has not gotten another shot in the Octagon since that November night. Instead he has fought a few times each year for various organizations against some of the top names in the fight game.

Known within the MMA world as a guy who is not afraid to stand toe-to-toe and brawl, he has been pulling shifts as a porn star and fighter for over three years. He has now performed in over 500 sex scenes since December 2002, including a session Wednesday night with newcomer Madeline Marks for Lethal Hardcore. Last week he banged Daisy in a Cherry Boxxx video and he also recently worked with Luscious Lopez and reigning AVN Best New Starlet Cytherea.

Punishment Athletics, the clothing line owned by former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz, is now sponsoring Delaware, who is a childhood friend of Ortiz. Justin McCully and Delaware’s brother Greg Brink will be in his corner on Saturday.

“I’m just shy of three months being sober,” Delaware told AVN.com. “I changed my life. I moved home with my mom in Oceanside. I commute to scenes [in the Valley]. I was overdrawn on my bank account. … I put my life back together.

“For the first time in my career I’m training for these fights and taking it seriously. I have one last chance. If I do well I have two more years in this sport. If things don’t go well in these next couple fights you can expect to see me in a lot more hotel rooms [in adult videos] late at night.”

Even though Delaware has to fight Saturday inside a boxing ring, he couldn’t help but look ahead to his Rage in the Cage opponent whom he will meet inside a steel cage on the night of the 30th. He was booked to fight Homer Moore, who is actually a longtime acquaintance, twice in the past two years in Arizona.

“Homer Moore backed out from me twice. I cut weight. I’m a light heavyweight now. I’ll be 210 for that fight. Man the fuck up and fight me. Don’t fake an injury. Don’t come up with some dumb excuse,” Delaware said, adding that it’s nothing personal, just business. “I like Homer Moore. He’s a good dude. He and I are two guys on the exact same level, borderline journeyman. One way or another we have to cross each other’s paths. We’ve had the opportunity to meet before. We need to get this behind us and move on.”
