LOS ANGELES—Vixen Media Group (VMG) today releases the first installment of Equilibrium, a new feature written and directed by AVN Hall of Famer Kayden Kross for the company's Deeper label.
The five-part production is led by Jewel Diamant alongside VMG exclusive contract stars Serenity Cox, Jessi Rae and Jason Luv, with a deep supporting ensemble and two major industry firsts.
As provided promo materials describe, "Drawing on ancient myth and the oldest archetypes of the feminine, Equilibrium moves between two worlds: an ordered surface of duty and appearances, and an underworld of the psyche where desire takes physical form. Its story belongs to three sisters and to the philosopher Jason (Luv), who moves through each of their lives, taking what he wants and never giving his best. His seduction of the youngest, his student Jewel (Diamant), sets everything in motion: when her father demands restitution, Jason is forced instead to marry the eldest, Jessi (Rae). Jessi becomes the immaculate wife of a man who betrays her for five years, until she finally sees the fire that has been quietly consuming her home. Jewel, exiled to a convent, is drawn out of her longing by two knowing nuns (Kenna James and Little Puck) who teach her the difference between obedience and truth. And presiding over the underworld is Serenity (Cox), the sister no man can possess, a gold-dusted goddess who asks the men who seek her for the one thing few will give: their best. She has already found the balance the other two are still searching for."
Kross describes the movie’s central idea as a balance between giving and holding back. “It’s not about holding yourself back to meet someone else’s expectations, and it’s not about giving too freely,” she said. “It’s about giving honestly where someone else is giving honestly back. Equilibrium is something sustaining, where one can’t overcome the other. It’s the cosmic dance.”
Offered Diamant, “Kayden Kross holds a level of creative vision and respect within the industry that very few people do. She’s someone whose work I genuinely admire, and I value both what she has to say and what she creates. She is so deeply intelligent, and that’s reflected through her projects. Working with her for Equilibrium was an incredible experience because she has such a clear artistic perspective that holds meaning. She pays attention to the details that elevate a scene from something good to something memorable, and you can tell how much thought went into this project. Before we filmed, she took the time to meet with me and go through the script and go into greater detail of the concept, and hearing her knowledge and thoughts and observations around this film was pretty damn impressive. It is always an honor to work with her!”
The feature's cast also includes Violet Myers, Rissa May, Vince Karter, Seth Gamble, Chocolate Rod, Prince Yahshua, Parker Ambrose, Hollywood Cash, Goldey and Alex Jones.
Episode 1 co-stars Diamant and Luv expounded on the experience of bringing it to life.
“Jason Luv takes the cake when it comes to scene partners,” said Diamant. “Plus the vibes were all there—the set, the outfits, the dialogue leading up to sex. Jason did an amazing job on this project with just the acting alone and the way he carried himself and delivered his lines. I remember feeling like I was living the storyline and it naturally revved up the energy between the two of us.”
“This was unlike anything I’ve shot,” commented Luv. “Kayden builds an entire world around you and hands you a character with real depth to play. Getting to work at this level, with a cast and crew this good, is exactly why I do this.”
