The weekly Internet radio program “Sexposé” – broadcast at 5 p.m. ET every Thursday on YNOT Radio – this week will feature a discussion of erotic photographer Barbara Nitke’s recent battle with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Nitke’s subjects often have been porn stars and perverts, lovingly captured in their human frailty, triumph, passion, and serenity. Unfortunately, where some see artful documentation, others see obscenity. Along with the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, Nitke challenged the Communication Decency Act—all the way to the Supreme Court. Why did her case fail? What does it mean for free speech on the Internet? What next?
“Sexposé” hostess Darklady, Nitke, First Amendment attorney Jeffrey Douglas, and author and founder of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom Susan Wright will examine the state of free speech online, how the CDA chills expression, and what the Supreme Court’s recent decision in the Nitke case may mean for the future of online communication.
