Cyber Trend, the parent company of SilverCash, has acquired and re-launched Webmaster resource site Web Overdrive (www.weboverdrive.com).
The newly-redesigned site has a new look, added features and was turned around in a three-to-five week period according to Cyber Trend CEO Mike Price.
“Web Overdrive was something that we just stumbled upon and we thought it
would be a good opportunity to do something fun. We’re currently in the middle of a number of other large projects, so fitting this in was no easy task,” Price told AVNOnline.com.
But fit it in they did and in the coming months, “a ton of new and exciting features” will be added.
“The first release only added a few features but we took the content from all the domains we acquired and repackaged everything under one roof that is Web Overdrive. From here we can do the fun stuff,” Price said.
Web Overdrive, which was launched in 1998, is the culmination of resource sites TopNiche, Rookie Class, Webmaster Matrix, Traffic Matrix, Tutor Matrix and Banner Overdrive. It features a resource area, news, tips and a message board.
Although the acquisition of Web Overdrive could easily be compared to what other large programs have done with community offerings, most notably Adult.com’s GFY and Shaw Internet’s JBM, Price doesn’t see it that way.
“I honestly don’t think that owning a board and having an affiliate program have anything to do with one another. As far as comparing to JBM and GFY… watch out for Webmaster Overdrive!” he joked.
But seriously, he said, “I don’t see myself in competition with them. We are a resource site with gobs and gobs of information, not a chat board, but at the same time I do hope the chat board does well and draws a good crowd of both old and new Webmasters.”
