The webmasters of popular gay free site CruisingForSex.com brought their business back to this hurricane-ravaged city Tuesday, when their hometown servers were rebooted for the first time since Katrina hit.
Most of the operation’s employees have been staying in Atlanta temporarily.
Although the site was down in the immediate wake of the distaster, it returned after three days thanks to New York-based Adult Hosting, which agreed to serve as CruisingForSex.com’s backup host for free.
CruisingForSex.com owner Keith Griffith called the adult community’s support during the tragedy unbelievable and says he considers himself lucky.
“Large portions of New Orleans have been destroyed. They’ll need to be flattened and rebuilt. Others just have to be cleaned up. We were very lucky [to be part of the latter],” he says. “I know how much money I lost. I just can’t imagine how the brick-and-mortar businesses were affected.”
While he hasn’t yet moved back to his home city, Griffith plans to return permanently when hurricane season is over.
“I’ve never been more determined to be a New Orleans resident in my life,” he says.
CruisingForSex.com, which also operates CruisingForSexVideos.com, CruisingForDicks.com, CFSporn.com and CommunalStall.com, plans to launch a free content licensing program and male escort review site in the coming weeks.
