COLT Strikes Deal with Decade Mobile

Decade Mobile announced today that it has entered into an exclusive, multi-year deal with the COLT Studio Group to distribute COLT’s products worldwide through mobile carrier, direct-to-consumer, and private-labeled channels.

Content from the COLT, MinuteMan, Buckshot, Legendary Bodies, and COLT Calendar lines will be featured as video clips, graphics, and wallpapers.

The partners are also in the development phase of rolling out COLT ringtones, a COLT-branded web storefront, and branded mobile applications — all with commercial tie-ins to COLT Studio Group’s traditional sales channels.

Decade Mobile will support the deal through its sales and distribution offices in the United States, Europe, and Australia.

John Rutherford of COLT Studio Group said, “We considered our options carefully. No one in the mobile business today has the mobile content experience, distribution relationships, and product plans we found at Decade Mobile. They’re developing products that take the consumer wireless experience in directions that others haven’t even thought of — we want those products in the COLT portfolio.”

Saran Ganesh, Decade Mobile Director of Products and Programming, added, “Colt Studio Group has the richest all-male erotic catalog in the business, most of which transcends beyond just the gay genre. Working together, Decade Mobile and COLT will expand COLT’s market position in the mobile space, and provide their audience an all-new way to access their entertainment — anytime, anywhere.”

Anticipating US and international complexities regarding the distribution of erotic material over wireless channels, Decade Mobile is already addressing issues of age verification, regional obscenity laws, and legal compliance.

According to Ganesh, “Both the biggest opportunity and challenge in this market is legal compliance and age verification. A number of our competitors are turning a blind eye to Section 2257 and regional obscenity issues. Given today’s legal environment, they run the very real risk of getting themselves — or worse yet — their content partners, in serious trouble. We believe we’re uniquely suited to address those issues as well. Distribution, production, billing and legal compliance are critical to a successful mobile strategy. We have the expertise and technology to outperform our competitors in those areas.”
