Codie Awards Seek Software/Information Industry's Best

Think your software programming has what it takes? The Codie Awards want to know: They're taking nominations for their 20th annual competition recognizing the best in the software and information industries.

"We open this 20th Annual Codie Awards with excitement," said Software and Information Industry Association president Ken Wasch, announcing the opening of nominations. "The Codie Awards are one of the industry's most anticipated award programs. For 20 years, the Codie Awards have maintained their status as the symbol of outstanding achievement in the software and information industry."

The group expanded the number of awards categories for 2005, and the awards will be presented in 73 categories in May 2005, with finalists announced in January. The deadline for 2005 Codie nominations is October 15, 2004.

Judging involves a rigorous process, in which industry, trade press, and mainstream tech press writers, analysts, and consultants review nominees and vote on the finalists, with the candidates reviewed yet again in a final round believed to be the only peer-review awards program in the software and information tech industries. Last year, over 800 nominations from 600 companies were submitted, organizers said.
