CineKink Film Festival Opens Call for Entries

NEW YORK—CineKink—"the kinky film festival"—is seeking works that celebrate and explore a wide diversity of sexuality for its 20th anniversary season.

Founded in 2003 with the intent of recognizing and encouraging sex-positive and kink-friendly depictions, CineKink will consider offerings from both the independent film world and adult, with selections ranging from documentary to drama, camp comedy to artsy experimental, mildly spicy to quite explicit—and everything in between.

"Basically, as long as it involves consenting adults, just about anything celebrating sex as a right of self-expression is fair game," says Lisa Vandever, CineKink co-founder and director. "Far be it from us to define 'kink.' If you think your work might make sense in this context, please send it along!"

Scheduled for its 20th-anniversary appearance in May/June 2023, the specially-curated CineKink NYC will include a short film competition, audience choice awards, and an adult entertainment showcase/contest, with a national screening tour to follow. After several seasons of online festivals, organizers plan to offer in-person festivities and screenings, as long as it’s possible to do so safely and affordably while utilizing virtual presentations to expand its offerings and reach a wider audience.

Discounted early-bird entries are due Dec. 9, while the regular deadline is Jan. 10 and the late deadline is Feb. 3, with submission fees increasing at each tier. An extended deadline runs until Feb. 23 for works submitted online only.

As always, entry fees are waived for CineKink-alumni filmmakers, provided they are submitted by the regular deadline of Jan. 6, with a limit of three entries each. Waiver information has been emailed to all alumni.
