Ever since the Hustler store came to Lexington, Kentucky a little more than a year ago, it's been the center of controversy. A Hustler Hollywood billboard has hung above the Robert R. Martin bypass in Richmond for over a year. Now one community church says it's time to fight back, according to the Adult Freedom Foundation's monitor.
The folks at Red House Baptist Church have posted a sign above the Hustler's that reads "don't get hustled... Give your life to Jesus."
"We know that Hustler has a right to post their sign, but the flip side to that is so do we," said Adam Dooley, senior pastor at the church.
Dooley said his church's sign has been posted for a week and he's already had an overwhelmingly positive response.
"It's posted right where you have to turn to our church. We wanted to let the community know that there is an alternative, a positive alternative," Dooley said.
Jimmy Flynt, the brother of Kentucky native and publisher of Hustler, Larry Flynt, owns the store and was unavailable for comment.
Dooley says his congregation paid for the sign and theirs will be up for the next year, the same amount of time left on Hustler's billboard contract.
