SAN FRANCISCO—Award-winning performer and director-producer Chelsea Poe has released Art Porn: A Decade of Art, Porn and Cinema, a retrospective “celebrating 10 years of boundary-pushing work at the intersection of hardcore porn and experimental queer art,” a rep said.
The project reclaims and recontextualizes scenes from Poe’s body of work that has screened across North America, Europe and Australia, from underground queer porn spaces to international film festivals.
“Getting to experience my films in theatres around the world truly gave me a second wind in my career,” Poe said. “This project really celebrates the last decade that saw my work travel to 20-plus countries from Santiago to Tokyo to Chicago to Berlin to Perth. I really hope this gives the viewer the same excitement I had when I saw experimental porn films for the first time at the Berlin Porn Film Festival.”
The movie features an international cast including Poe, Mahx Capacity, Praline Manon and Jane Way, and is elevated by an experimental queer soundtrack. The score includes new music from French experimental artist edna, alongside past collaborations with Australian pop artist KT Spit, “creating a sonic landscape that mirrors the film’s avant-garde visual style,” the rep said.
"Blending archival footage with a renewed artistic outlook, Art Porn: A Decade of Art, Porn and Cinema stands as both a personal reclamation and a cultural statement highlighting the evolution of queer, trans and experimental pornography within global film discourse over the course of the last decade,” the rep added.
The movie is now available to stream on the Chelsea Poe Productions studio pages at Adult Empire and HotMovies.
