LOS ANGELES—In high school, Jezabel Vessir confesses she was popular—for one thing: “I got my boobs really early.” She laughs. “I was popular for all the wrong reasons.”
Growing up in Denver, Colorado, Vessir was an athlete. She rode horses, did figure skating, and was a cheerleader. She was a diligent student with a 4.0 grade point average. But she wasn’t well liked by the other girls because “I was more developed.”
At 17, Jezabel won a scholarship and started college. She studied health and nutrition and creative writing. Then, she left. College wasn’t really her thing, she decided.
As it turned out, webcamming was.
Years earlier, she’d seen Spike Lee’s Girl 6 and thought: “I could be a phone sex operator!” But she learned she sucked at it. Taking off her clothes online in front of a webcam was more her thing, she discovered when she got on MyFreeCams.
“I got really popular on that site, and I saw how much money I was making, and I was like, well, I wonder if I could make more money,” recalls Vessir, who was the AVN CAMStar in March 2021. “And so I got into porn. Obviously, a very rational transition.” Eventually, she signed with an adult talent agency.
For her first porn scene, she was nervous. “I’d never had sex on camera. At that point, I had only been with two people. And then I got into porn.” Vessir laughs again. “So the third person I ever had sex with in my life was in porn on camera.”
One of her favorite scenes was a four-way with her, Teanna Trump, Anya Ivy, and James Deen. “It was just cool to work with people like that. I had a huge crush on James Deen. When I finally met him in person it was, like, oh my god, fan-girling.”

Now 36, single, and based out of Las Vegas, she’s embraced her status as a bona fide adult star, even when it comes to dating. “I’m just honest about what I do, and, you know, if they accept me, they accept me, and if they don’t, they don’t. I feel like I spent a lot of my life trying to get other people used to what I’m doing. If they just can’t accept it, it’s not my job to make them accept it. It’s like, here I am. This is what I do.”
When she was younger, Vessir compartmentalized who she was on screen and who she was when she wasn’t. “Now that I’m older and have a more developed sense of who I am, I don’t need to compartmentalize,” she says. “It’s me. It’s always me. I can turn it on and off, but it’s always me. I feel like I made such a big separation between me and Jezabel that it was driving a wedge between who I knew I was. Now I brought the two sides of me together. And I came to realize, there was never two sides. It was always me.”
Fundamentally, she’s a competitive person, which has helped her last in this competitive business. “The thing to remember about being a competitive person is you’re not in it to win it. You’re in it to have fun. It’s cool if you win, too, though. I’m very assured that I'm going to do good at this, even if I’m not trying. I can give it half my heart, and I’m going to do well. And so I think that’s a really cool way to go into things. Like, I’m not expecting to win. I will win, but I’m not expecting to,” she says, laughing.
