Just when you thought it was safe to let your kids surf the Net for cartoon sites along comes this story from Kansas City television station KMBC.
It seems that little Stephanie O’Neal was looking for the website of the Care Bears—cute cartoon bruins who, well, care—when she apparently left out a hyphen and misspelled “bears” and was directed to an adults-only website.
According to Stephanie, “All of a sudden, here comes up a lady and her pants were pulled down and she was showing her bottom….”
Stephanie’s mom, Tracy O’Neal was more vocal in her dismay. “I was repulsed,” said O’Neal. “If that website has predators behind it, they need to be stopped.”
O’Neal has vowed to monitor little Stephanie’s Web surfing sessions more closely.
As for Stephanie, she says of her experience, “I will probably never go back on that site again.”
