Silhouette Productions’ Can You Be A Porn Star? is a reality porn series that brings 28 women to a house in Los Angeles County for the chance to win $100,000 and a one-year contract with an adult video distributor.Production for the series started last week.
Tabitha Stevens will be the daytime host for the series, interacting with the contestants during the day, and Kick Ass Pictures contract performer Mary Carey will host the show during the night.
For Halloween, Carey took the contestants out for a night on the town. They all wore schoolgirl outfits. “There are some really beautiful women at the house. I think it’s a lot of fun.” Carey told AVN.com. “I greet them when they come home from whatever they did during the day. We talk about the day, then we drink wine and make out, stuff like that.”
Finalists, selected from submissions and live auditions across the country, will stay at the house for two days each, in groups of four. During their time, they’ll take part in contests of a sexual nature, model for photo shoots, and party.
Each contestant will be judged in areas such as imagination, initiative, experimentation and enthusiasm by a panel of judges from the adult industry. AVN Hall of Famers Ginger Lynn, Veronica Heart, Asia Carrera, Teri Weigel, Henri Pachard, and Bill Margold are all listed as judges for the show.
Viewers will help the judges narrow the field of 28 contestants to eight, eventually helping to select the winner. Viewers can vote for their favorites via the Internet following each episode, and will also be able to view audition tapes as well as exclusive and behind-the-scenes footage from the program at the series’ Website.
"Pay-per-view gives us the freedom to take reality television where it has never gone before, and while we expect this to be one of the biggest events in pay-per-view history, we know that it's not just the reality of the adult film world, but the fun we have with it, that will drive interest in this series." show producer and Silhouette Productions CEO Harry Feingold said in a statement.
Television news stations across Southern California plugged the series last night, noting that Carey was the porn star who ran for governor in California's recall election.
The first of seven one-hour shows will be broadcast by iN DEMAND Networks on Thursday, January 8, with new episodes airing every other Thursday climaxing with a 90-minute grand finale.
