Adult novelty manufacturer California Exotic Novelties today announced the retirement of adult industry veteran Robert Miller. Miller began his long-standing relationship with Cal Exotic after meeting founder Susan Colvin more than 13 years ago after leaving a position in television syndication with Warner Bros.
"I came across an ad for a warehouse manager position at a company called California Publishers Liquidating Company. I didn't know it was an adult distributor until I arrived," Miller admited. "Susan was the general manager at the time, and she hired me. I was the warehouse manager until CPLC was sold off. Susan took the novelty division and created California Exotic Novelties. I began to travel the world for Susan—seeking distribution, working with distributors in each area to get our products prominent placement. I have been doing that right up until my retirement."
Having worked together for more than a decade, even prior to the formation of California Exotic Novelties, their relationship has endured longer than many marriages, Miller added.
"Not seeing Robert every day is really going to take some getting used to," stated a reflective Colvin. "For over 13 years, he's been a loyal and dedicated friend and employee—he will truly be missed. He possessed a talent for working with distributors and retailers alike, and he is well known for his unique ability to visit a retail store once and recall – in the finest detail – everything about the location. He has visited just about every retail location in the world! We all wish him nothing but the best as he begins this exciting 'next step.'"
Miller intimated to friends and colleagues that, while he will miss the friends, colleagues, and relationships he has forged throughout the past decade, he welcomes the uncertainty of the future. "It will be a little strange not having to be somewhere at 7 in the morning, but I am looking forward to having the time to pursue a variety of interests," he said. "My first goal is to take some time to organize my house. I want to do some traveling and see what the world looks like outside of a retail store, sightsee, renew old friendships, and spend time with my family. After that, who knows?"
