LOS ANGELES—Bree Mills is widely known for developing new and innovative concepts for Adult Time, where she is the chief creative officer. Now in addition to her prowess behind the camera, she has also developed a reputation as a talented podcast host in the sexuality space.
Based on the success of her popular How Women Orgasm docuseries, Mills and her production team discovered the inspiration to launch the “Adult Time Podcast” as a platform to discuss the sexuality, wellness, and empowerment of women in the adult entertainment industry.
With at least 30 episodes released throughout 2024, the show has taken off, featuring interviews with some of the biggest stars across Adult Time’s brands, studios and production imprints. With many critically acclaimed award-winners and nominees themselves, the podcast has featured guests such as Siri Dahl, Codi Vore, Ariel Demure, Lauren Phillips and other high-profile performers from the adult industry.
“Prior to the pandemic, I was starting to get interested in the podcast space just as, you know, an emerging popular form of content, not so much in adult, but just in general media,” Mills told AVN.
In part, the podcast was based on the “sort of spirit of shooting something that had an X-rated version and an R-rated version and using [the] mainstream outlets to showcase the ‘safe’ piece as a way to kind of break through a lot of traditional, adult-only spaces,” Mills explained.
The success of the podcast thus far has led to Mills experimenting, considering new schemes to amend the show’s format. Mills described one concept that provides deeper human experience for the show’s listeners: an audio-video interview with the performers after the production of a sex scene.
“I actually had planned a production we didn’t get to shoot called ‘A Dinner and an Orgy,’ where I was going to have it modeled after what John Favreau did in an old show that was where he got a group of eclectic guests together and they had a conversation while having dinner,” Mills said. “And I thought that was kind of an interesting format: a group of people get together and, you know, have an orgy and then have a dinner party.”
Mills tapped Isiah Maxwell, Lexi Lore and August Skye to test drive the concept.
“I wanted to bring our first official male guest onto the podcast,” Mills said. “ So far, we’ve only had female guests on the podcast.”
“I tapped Isiah because, you know, we go way back,” she continued. “We have lots of good shared experiences and he’s super easy to talk with. He mentioned August and Lexi and what was cool about this trio was that Isiah has done a lot of work with both of them.
“But August and Lexi had never worked together before, so it created this fun story.”
Mills explained how this casting created a high-profile scene more than likely to get the necessary praise from Adult Time’s fans with much to discuss in a post-scene interview.
For example, Maxwell was named Male Performer of the Year at the 2024 AVN Awards and is one of Adult Time’s brand ambassadors.
“[Isiah] has a ton of knowledge, is very well respected and influential within the industry,” explained Mills. “It was really fun throughout the course of the sex scene itself to see not just the one-on-one connection that Isiah had, but also everybody kind of equally enjoying and getting off on watching their partners interacting during the sex scene.”
She concluded, “You know, we shot the scene, everybody had the chance to shower, reset, and have a good meal. Then [we] tidied up the set, switching stuff around, and … came back on the set and had a conversation about everything. And that was kind of one of the number one things that…was just how much everybody in the scene enjoyed being able to see someone they were familiar with enjoying themselves.”
Mills confirmed that the scene featuring Maxwell, Skye, and Lore will be unveiled on Adult Time for their members in February. This will come alongside the safe-for-work podcast episode that will be made available to popular podcasting platforms where the “Adult Time Podcast” is published. These platforms include Apple Podcast, Spotify, Deezer, and on YouTube.
