Adult affiliate program TopBucks announced two changes December 1: Quentin Boyer has stepped down as the company's director of marketing and public relations, and the company is terminating its adult verification service, OneVerify.
"It is with mixed emotions that we announce Quentin Boyer’s resignation from TopBucks," TopBucks vice president of operations Alison Vivas said in a formal announcement. "Quentin has been a significant member of the TopBucks team for three years and he will be greatly missed here. We greatly appreciate Q’s work here and would like to ensure the webmaster community that we have taken proper measures to make sure a smooth transition occur with Q’s absence."
Former marketing director Lea Busick will take Boyer's place directing marketing and public relations for TopBucks, Vivas said. "Lee and her department will be taking on some of the new duties on top of their marketing and product management tasks," Vivas continued, "including public relations anc traffic management."
Just why Boyer stepped down has not yet been disclosed. Vivas was unavailable for comment when reached by AVNOnline.com before this story went to press.
TopBucks also said that, with new credit card company regulations impacting the Adult entertainment industry, including a ban on using credit cards for age verification and the credit companies’reluctance to continue with AVS/IPSP business model, the AVS market has become unstable enough to pose "an overall risk to our business."
That, combined with the low performance of OneVerify, prompted TopBucks to shut down the AVS, a move the company called "the difficult decision."
Affiliate webmasters will have until December 31 to remove any links promoting a OneVerify site, TopBucks said in a separate announcement, adding they would stop paying all per-signup accounts as of January 1, 2005 while revenue-sharing accounts would continue receiving payments on recurring but not new sales through the end of March 2005.
