Bill Whitrock Says Enough's Enough, Already About Hidden Cameras

The continuance of an urban legend about Bill Whitrock, author of the Real Sex Magazine video series for Legend, supposedly maintaining surveillance cameras in his shitter, has Whitrock close to a boil. Whitrock thinks Mark Kulkis, now of Hustler, has been spreading the stories.

Mark Kulkis: "I categorically deny that I'm the one spreading stories about Bill Whitrock having a peecam hidden inside his bathroom. One day when I was at Legend, Stuart Canterbury was in there and somehow we were talking about all the other directors at Legend. He mentioned Whitrock, and he said Whitrock used to have like a hidden camera in his toilet that would look up and take upskirt shots of girls peeing. So, obviously, Jeff and I thought it was a riot. We asked Bill about that and he denied it. We joked about it occasionally, and it was forgotten until about two weeks ago. This new girl in the business, Alicia, said she was looking for people to work for and I recommended she call Whitrock. She came back later and said are you sure this guy's ok to work for because she heard it from two people, one of them was Rayvenness, I forget the other, both of them said Whitrock has a mirror in his bathroom that's a two-way mirror, and, behind that, he has a camera that catches girls peeing. Jeff called me and said Whitrock's all mad at me because I've been spreading stories about him having a peecam. I want to set this straight that I'm not the one spreading stories, people have told me this. Whitrock's got the wrong idea. It's bizarre that three, totally separate people had the same story. I don't know if this is urban legend.

[Gene Ross sez: The Whitrock legend, and I've heard it, too, supposedly found a camera nestled in a box built along side the toilet. Don't ask me how this was supposed to work, but legend also had it that the camera was fed to the toilet base through a shaft in an elaborate periscopic system that allowed the camera to peek up at a woman peeing. Supposedly, when you put the toilet seat down, it triggered lights to come on. [How you could take a crap and not notice this is another thing.] Whitrock allegedly had the whole shebang connected to a monitor in his bedroom.

Jeff Steward from Legend: "He [Whitrock] wants to set the record straight. Let's set it straight once and for all. He's part of the Legend family. It must be investigated. We've got to clear Bill's name. I don't believe Mark Kulkis is spreading rumors. I've got to believe both Mark and Bill. I don't want to take any sides on this."

Here's what Whitrock has to say:

Whitrock: "I hear through Jeff at Legend about toiletcams and stuff. I got to talk to you about this, man. What's the deal? Everybody tells me it's Kulkis spreading these stories. I don't know who he hears it from because he won't tell me. It's a lie. It's a joke. It's a ridiculous rumor. There's no truth in it. I don't want to be associated with this. If you want to come by and check out my toilet you're more than welcome to."

Gene Ross: "I will. I'm the state-certified Johnny-on-the-spot."

Whitrock: "The only way to stop this is for you or someone in authority to really look it over. Where is this coming from? It's an awful thing to have to deal with. At first when Jeff told me about it, I was laughing with him. It was a joke. But it won't go away. It has to be nipped-in-the bud, that's why I'm appealing to you. I feel confident after the inspection, I'll receive a clean bill of health."

Whitrock is upset because he's had a pretty good year. He won an XRCO award, does wholesale distribution through Legend and his mail order business is taking off. On the flip side of the toilet seat, Whitrock's website, www.realsexmagazine.com is doing great, and he's been getting stellar reviews.

Whitrock: "The whole thing about the website is that it coincides directly with the videos, so that the logos are the same and there's the same appearance. So that people who buy the tapes can go ahead and download photo sets of their favorite girls. Number 21 in the video series just shipped last Monday from Legend. I do one about every four to six weeks. I think I have photo sets for up to numbers 16 or 17. I haven't quite caught up to the most recent video. People who come on to the site buy credits. A photo set is either two or three dollars or two or three credits. It deducts from the account.

"I have a special processor who's in Texas who does this particular processing which is called cybercents. They allow me to have people go on a per-set-basis. Chanté is the most recent girl up there. So, if you like her, you have the account, and it downloads 25 full size photos. I also have 45-second clips that you can download. If you like that, you can click-through to buy the video on-line. It works out very well. I've had a lot of success with it, and I don't know anybody else who does it exactly that way. Most websites have a membership and photos from all over the place, but they don't have the specific photo sets of the specific girl who you can see in action on a specific video."

Whitrock started doing artwork and art direction for Hustler in 1984. From 1991 to 1995, Whitrock was with John T. Bone and partners with Chuck Zane in Fantastic Pictures. Whitrock has flown solo since then. He produces and directs Real Sex MagazineM which is distributed through Legend. Whitrock is also noted for his still photography which is published regularly. He has centerfolds published in magazines like Busty Beauties, Barely Legal, Baby Face and Tight. Whitrock did the cover and centerfold of Chanté which was featured in the June issue of Tight.

Whitrock: "I was originally a photographer and that's how I hooked up with Bone. He was doing the videos and I was doing the photo work. With Hustler I answered an ad and went down to talk to them. It turned out that the guy who was the creative director of Hustler at the time was a guy I knew from working on a magazine unrelated to the adult industry back in the Seventies. When he saw me, we were like old friends and he hired me immediately. I did artwork. In those days there were no computers. We literally drew the boards. One day when they took me to a photo shoot for a cover, I realized that this is what I wanted to do [photography]. That was it. I got a camera and the rest his history.

"I run mail order ads through Bare Legal every month, High Society and Tight which is the hottest young girl magazine there is, on par with barely legal. It's produced by Diane Hanson. I shoot a very amateur style, I light it well, but it's shot, in a sense, amateur. They love it. It sells all the time. I shoot it in a way that's more saleable. It's not so produced and the girls aren't wearing heavy makeup. It just seems to be what's in style right now. I did a poster which is in Amateur Porn magazine of Charmane, the beautiful Thai girl, and it's going crazy. I'm getting orders all the time based on that poster."
