Intellectual property monitoring software developers BayTSP has introduced Safe-KIDS, a system that allows law enforcement to identify individuals making child pornography available for download on the Internet.
The system allows law enforcement to narrow a file sharer’s location to within 25 miles and the interface is designed to make it easy to collect evidence for preparing subpoenas and search warrants.
“Child pornography is readily available on peer-to-peer networks, and the challenge for investigators has been finding file traders in their jurisdictions,” says Mark Ishikawa, CEO of BayTSP. “Safe-KIDS automates and streamlines the process of identifying and locating infringers, giving investigators more time to focus on prosecutions.”
BayTSP has several connections to the adult industry. The company has developed digital image copyright-protection software employed by several adult companies, including Falcon Foto, and a search and customer information management system to oversee contract and copyright compliance that was used by iBill during better days.
Their latest concoction, Safe-KIDS identifies an individual sharing child pornography, assigns a case number and collects data on the suspect, including information on the images being shared, the IP address, date, time, and name of the suspect’s Internet Service Provider.
Safe-KIDS can deliver search results to a single team or distribute them to investigators who are closest to the file trader. The system also filters infringements based on regional requirements for securing subpoenas or search warrants.
