Adult performer Tyra Banxxx will appear on today's edition of the "The Tyra Banks Show," which is hosted by the mainstream supermodel.
Banxxx, who has performed in adult videos for over a year, has said she chose her stage name because of her admiration for Banks, and her close resemblance.
Banks' producers invited the adult performer to be a guest on the show last Thursday after someone showed the mainstream star the cover of Xtreme magazine, which features Banxxx.
"For a second I was like, 'Did they put my head on someone else's body?' I thought that it really did look like me," Banks said in a published report.
Banks, who also is the host of "America's Next Top Model," brought Banxxx on her new talk show to "demand her name back" and persuade her to leave adult, according to various reports and previews of the episode.
"The first thing that went through my head... It wasn't anger, it was more of a curiosity, and an empathy like, 'Where does this girl come from... And what led her to this?'" Banks said.
Scott Hoover, president of Lucky Star Management, has been representing Banxxx since she left her contract with Jill Kelly Productions. He said that Banks' attorneys recently sent Banxxx a Cease & Desist letter stating she should immediately change her name and drop her website, or risk being sued. Tyra Banxxx had already been trying to drop the last name and just go by Tyra. She also was considering just adding another "r" to Tyra, Hoover said.
Banxxx reportedly agreed to stop using the similar stage name while on the show.
"Growing up, everyone always said I should be a model and everyone said I looked like you... You're an inspiration to me," Banxxx is reported as saying on the air.
Hoover said that as recently as last week Banxxx indicated she liked being in the adult industry and was excited about signing for two different companies in January at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.
Banxxx also had been in negotiations with two major companies for another exclusive contract. She will also be in an upcoming pictorial for High Society magazine.
The show, which was taped on Thursday in L.A., airs at 5 p.m. on UPN (Ch. 13) on the West Coast.
Banxxx could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday.
