San Diego-based BCSMobile.com is employing an interesting approach to its mobile delivery. In addition to offering a la carte pricing for the two-minute hardcore clips available from its WAP site, it also offers a free, non-explicit “clip of the day” program. The information BCS collects from free members may, of course, be useful in future marketing endeavors, but there’s more to it: Because the free clips are tagged at the beginning and end with the producer’s name, the video’s title, and a URL, they act as powerful marketing tools that build interest in the producers’ other products.
“We are the only service that edits and re-purposes the scenes for mobile use to include the studio’s name, the film’s title, and the studio’s website at both the opening and close of each clip,” says BCS Mobile Vice President Steve Jack. “Our reciprocal partner agreement uniquely includes a linked promotional tile space on our site as well as a revenue share for each studio to complete the branded delivery experience.”
Both Jack and BCS President Timm Dietschak have many years of experience in the mainstream mobile solutions arena—the two still maintain a significant presence there. However, Dietschak says when the opportunity arose to begin offering proprietary mobile delivery technology to the adult entertainment industry – with its existing, sought-after content – both men leapt into the foundation of BCS Mobile. BCS currently serves only gay content producers, but Dietschak and Jack plan to create a sister company that will deliver straight adult content later this year.
“We went for the gay market first, because this is very new, very tech-y, and it requires the latest phones—ones manufactured within the past year or so,” Dietschak says. “Our research indicated that gay porn consumers tend to be ahead of the curve in adopting new technology.”
He also reveals that BCS Mobile’s system provides true video streaming to mobile phones, so content owners need not worry about piracy, as the videos are not downloaded. Security passwords and credit card payments are used to exclude minors and unauthorized access.
