Vivid Girl Savanna Samson turned her passion for wine into a new company that introduced her first vintage at a gala launch party at La Masseria in Manhattan in February. The following is the AVN review of the award-winning actress' debut wine that has made national news since its release.
Savanna Sogno Uno 2004 Red Table Wine
AAAA ½ (out of AAAAA) $40
Savanna Samson’s first wine release, a Tuscan blend, was the cause celebe when Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, the Consumer Reports of wine gave it an incredible ‘91’ point rating and New York restaurants bought so much that her first 400 cases sold out immediately. This bottle, from the second run, holds up to the best Super Tuscan wines I’ve tasted.
Very fruity, but subtle in its long finish, the wine has hints of cherry, blackberry and cassis, but doesn’t overwhelm like other fruity varietals, such as Zinfadel. The wine is a bit young now, so decant for at least 90 minutes. Or, as Savanna herself says, enjoy over the next 10 years as it gets better. I agree.
