Nominations for the 24th annual AVN Awards will be posted on AVN.com Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m., according to AVN president Paul Fishbein.
The nominations for outstanding achievements in adult video in 2006 are being revealed more than a week earlier than in previous years, when it was customary to announce them the day before Thanksgiving.
The earlier post date, Fishbein said, is to allow AVN’s voters more time to view the enormous amount of competing products in 116 categories.
This year several new categories have been created, including two important performer awards: Contract Performer of the Year and Underrated Starlet of the Year.
There will be an additional award for achievement in directing: Director of the Year (Body of Work). And the award for Best Ethnic-Themed Series has been broken down into four individual awards, for Best Asian, Black, Hispanic and Interracial series.
AVN’s nominators spent 22 days in private meetings sorting out hundreds of pre-nominations to settle on the finalists — 15 in most categories — as well choosing the 12 new members of the AVN Hall of Fame, who will also be announced Tuesday.
Winners will be revealed at the 24th annual AVN Awards show on Jan. 13, 2007, in its new venue, the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
