MELBOURNE, Australia—New Aussie-based producer Lickerish Way has completed and released its first feature, the “genre-bending” A Love Electric, “following the misadventures of a couple who complicate their relationship with some very compliant ‘sex bots,’" a studio representative said.
"A Love Electric is a sci-fi, romantic comedy that aims to set new standards in humor and heart for modern adult features,” the rep continued. “Seven years in the making, the film is a love letter to a by gone age of adult cinema. An homage to the 'porno chic' era of '70s filmmaking when adult films were made for the cinema and story wasn't just window dressing.”
The movie is released in full feature format, “eschewing the scene-based template” of modern releases. It also "distinguishes itself with effects, narrative and characterization all being crucial elements that are pushed to the fore and not simply forgotten as soon as the sexual content begins,” the rep added. “A Love Electric is produced by veterans of the independent film world, dipping their toes for the first time into the world of adult cinema.”
