AttractOne.com Merges Online Chat, Dating at the Beauty Parlor - AVN Online

If you thought the beauty parlor was the place to be for hot gossip and hot date prep, welcome to the cyberspace version: AttractOne.com has begun a new online video chat dating service teamed with five beauty parlors around the U.S. to spice up waiting time "and use the ravishing beauty results to put pretty faces on its new site," as AttractOne.com itself says.

"AttractOne.com is different from other services," said chief executive/inventor Richard Braun, announcing the rollout, "in that its revolutionary technology enables you to see, hear and chat with 16 people onscreen at the same time. We decided to offer free memberships to women at selected salons. They sign up and do data input while they wait for color or are under the dryer, and they debut with their first video chat after their hair is finished and they look spectacular."

The five beauty parlors joining in the fun are the Teddie Kossof Salon in Northfield, Ill.; Spa Secret in Brooklyn; Batia and Aleeza Hair Care in Beverly Hills; Le Boe Day Spa in Coral Springs, Fla.; and Linear Aveda Lifestyle Salon & Spa in Boston. They were provided laptops, wireless access, 100 free Webcams, headsets, and six-month memberships to give away to their female customers, not to mention tech support from AttractOne.com technicians.

A woman is offered a laptop while waiting for color or highlights to process, AttractOne.com said, or while undergoing other lengthy treatments. They're brought to AttractOne's homepage to input information, and they return the laptop while their treatments are finished. Then, AttractOne said, they get a spot in the parlor where they can do their very first video introduction and chat while looking their no-questions-asked best.

Braun said the real-time video chat for a dating site adds a new dimension to cybercommunication.

"You will be less likely to log on in your bathrobe," he said. "And you may have to check your teeth before you log on if you've recently eaten. There's nothing more annoying than someone picking teeth online! But what really makes the difference is the group dynamics. It's a more natural way to meet other people in a happy group setting."
