ASACP to Conduct Workshop at WAE

During Webmaster Access East, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection will conduct a workshop about keeping adult sites safe and legal.

WAE runs May 16-19 in Toronto. ASACP's "Are You Protected?" workshop will take place Friday at 2 p.m. and will be led by the organization's compliance director, Tim Henning.

A former adult webmaster, Henning joined ASACP in 1996 during the organization's first year. As compliance director, he reviews reports that come through ASACP's online child pornography reporting hot line and tracks down billing, hosting, ownership, registration, and IP information. Henning also oversees monitoring of ASACP-approved member sites, thereby helping members keep their traffic clean.

During the workshop, Henning will discuss some basic ways adult webmasters and companies can protect their businesses, fight child pornography, and keep children from viewing adult material online.

"I expect to present some simple, practical guidelines," Henning said. "ASACP's approach is not too legalistic or technical, so this session should be especially helpful for small site operators and newcomers. We just want to help webmasters and adult companies to be prepared and be aware of what practices and operating procedures can help them protect themselves and their businesses."
