The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection will hold a roundtable discussion at Internext Summer about self-labeling by adult sites. The event takes place this week in Hollywood, Fla.
The workshop, titled “Self-Labeling: It’s Here,” will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. in the Westin Diplomat’s north tower, room 307. Topics will include adult sites’ current labeling options, as well as pending legislation relating to mandatory site labeling.
ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine will moderate the workshop and discuss ASACP’s self-labeling project. Other panelists will discuss the benefits for the adult industry from legal, technological, free speech, political, and marketing perspectives.
Panelists slated to participate include attorneys Lawrence Walters and Greg Piccionelli, ASACP technical consultant Brandon Shalton of Cydata Services, Mo Botero of SafeLabeling.org, and Justin Mattina of the Website Rating & Advisory Council.
ASACP recently conducted an “online town hall” on the topic of self-labeling and plans to offer a standard adult industry label for better enabling parental filtering and to demonstrate the industry’s commitment to preventing children from viewing adult content.
Founded in 1996, ASACP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP battles child pornography through its CP reporting hot line, and by organizing the efforts of the online adult industry to combat the heinous crime of child sexual abuse.
