Aria Giovanni to Host Signing

Aria Giovanni loves her work. So when she was asked to do a photo shoot for Penthouse magazine in New York, she jumped at the chance.

“It was great,” said the former Penthouse Pet of the Month.

“We did the shoot and then I saw all these pictures and when I saw one, I said ‘Wow, that looks like a cover,’ and they ended up picking that one for the cover.”

On Thursday, Giovanni is scheduled to host a signing for the magazine’s July issue from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Virgin Megastore at the Hollywood and Highland Center, 6801 Hollywood Blvd. Suite 105.

Wearing a black, leather bikini, holding an Ibanez guitar, Giovanni graces the magazine’s rock music issue.

“I’m really not musically inclined. I can’t sing or play music, so I leave that to John,” she says of her husband John Lowery, better known as John 5, a guitarist formerly with Marilyn Manson.

A one-time biochemistry major in San Diego, Giovanni got into the porn business after she responded to an ad in a local newspaper for adult models.

“I needed money for college, so I answered this ad and started shooting in San Diego,” she recalled.

“I just thought I could make some good money at first, but I really enjoyed doing that."

Soon, Giovanni left school and turned her full attention to her work which led to being named Penthouse Pet of the Month in September 2000.

She has since moved her career from Internet modeling to hardcore and softcore videos where she has starred in mostly girl-girl titles.

Besides her on-screen work, Giovanni is also interested in getting into the real estate investment market and in wine tasting and traveling.

“I’m really big on food and wine,” she says.

“I’ve gone to wine tastings in Napa and Sonoma and in Canberra, Australia. I love wine.”

But one of her new passions is photography. Having posed in front of the camera for years, Giovanni now hopes to work behind it, taking photographs for an amateur Web site she hopes to launch soon.

“It seems like a natural progression to me. The great thing about amateur photography is that it’s amateur.

“The whole point of amateur photography is for the girl to look obtainable. She’s not a glamorous model or somebody from a magazine, but a girl next door or a girl in college that you would see.”
