Antigua Pictures is preparing for an active summer as it ships Buck Adams’ splashy feature Beach Patrol and juggles several other major projects. Adams' new title is coming on the heels of a spike in interest in Briana Loves Double Anal, which features current Vivid Girl Briana Banks in a super hardcore turn.
“We’re releasing our biggest titles in the summertime,” Antigua President Todd Blatt told AVN.com, revealing the company’s aggressive production schedule during what is often a slower period for the industry. “My strategy is if you can be strong during the bad season, you can be even better in the good season. We want the stores to know that we’re supporting them with good product.”
Beach Patrol, which is Antigua Pictures' first release in high-definition, has been nearly a year in the making. Adams began the elaborate production in August, sparing no expense with high-end props such as a custom jet boat, Quadrunners and Jetskis. The feature stars Ashley Long, Trina Michaels, Lonnie Waters, Haley Paige, Isabella Camille, Nicole Parks and Lisa Lee, along with Tommy Gunn, Dale DaBone and Christian.
Briana Loves Double Anal, which came out last Friday, shows Banks taking both Bobby Vitale and Erik Everhard up her ass simultaneously.
“After a long time of negotiating, Vivid gave us their approval to put it out,” Blatt said.
The video also includes performances by Obsession, Dakota, Morgan Fairchild and a Czech performer named Trinity, who Blatt said was fucked into retirement by Lexington Steele.
Between the recent one-two punch of Briana Loves Double Anal and Beach Patrol, Blatt said “sales have doubled compared to what I normally do.”
“There’s a lot more interest,” he continued. “We’re getting a lot more play especially from the Website companies.”
Beach Patrol, which had a six-figure budget, has grabbed the attention of the chain stores because of the production value and the summer theme of a beach movie, Blatt noted.
“It’s also the first movie coming out in a long time from Buck,” he said.
Adams’ next high-def action feature is A.G.P., or All Girl Protection, which stars Lexie Marie in what Blatt says was her final role before becoming exclusive with Vivid. That title is due to reach stores by the end of July. Antigua also has Can I Be Your Whore (June 23) and Deviant Teen coming soon.
Meanwhile, Blatt said that Antigua has recently closed a deal for Vivid Mexico, which will distribute three Vivid titles a month south of the border. Antigua is also in the final stages of an urban anime project called Sweet Cheeks that is a $300,000 production. There has not been an animated feature like it since “Fritz the Cat," according to Blatt.
