Annie Sprinkle, the porn legend turned performance artist and sexologist, will host two separate events at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica this Friday and Saturday. It is her first Los Angeles performance in several years.
Friday night Sprinkle presents “The Art of Capturing the Orgasm,” also featuring another XXX movie legend, Veronica Hart. The two former adult stars will be joined by Dr. Michael Perry for a show-and-tell about their experiences capturing the human orgasm on film.
Hart is a director with several dozen adult features to her credit. Perry, a sex therapist and researcher, has filmed women having orgasms from the inside out. Sprinkle will show clips from her new documentary film Amazing World of Orgasm. A discussion with the audience will follow.
On Saturday Sprinkle hosts “An Evening of Love and Art,” in which five artists will talk about and demonstrate their work exploring love as art. Sprinkle and her life partner Elizabeth Stephens will present projects from their Love Art Laboratory, including their “Sperm Dance Off” and “Cuddle” pieces.
The other artists are Angela Ellsworth and Tania Katan, presenting “Long Distance,” and Kathe Izzo, founder of the True Love Project, reading from her memoir Love Artist.
Sprinkle is in the midst of a national tour promoting her new book Spectacular Sex: Make Over Your Love Life, from Penguin/Tarcher. On Wednesday night she gave a reading and signed copies at Hustler Hollywood.
