AMVC.com Calls '04 "Great Year"

A rise in gross revenues and online sales helped to make 2004 a "great year" for AMVC.com, the amateur video producing and online distributing subsidiary of On The Edge of Cyberspace, Inc., the company announced January 7.

AdultHire.com, the newest OTEC division, brought in a mere 1 percent of the 2004 gross but it fed AMVC.com about 33 percent of the latter site's incoming feeder traffic, according to figures released by AMVC. OTEC streaming video contracts produced 70 percent more income and took care of 23 percent of OTEC's gross, helping ease the shutdown of video editing division VideoMeltdown.com for other projects.

AMVC.com VHS sales fell to 53 percent of items sold in 2004, down from 73 percent in 2003, according to co-owned Allen McNulty. But DVD sales jumped from 27 percent of items sold in 2003 to 47 percent in 2004, reflecting an industry-wide trend of swelling DVD market share. Meanwhile, average sale prices fell 22 percent last year, with more sales incentives drawing customers.

McNulty said announcing the 2004 results that the company was "extremely happy" with both sales and revenue figures overall.

“As you can tell by the stats, we’ve taken a more aggressive approach to streaming venues and will continue to do so,” he said. “I will probably never be completely happy until we’ve conquered the world, and with several new agreements we’ve just signed with various companies, we’re on our way to doing just that. Our content is in such high demand now; we’re barely keeping up. We’re not complaining, of course.”

The top selling AMVC.com amateur gay videos included Sneek Peek Productions' Blowin' Boston, Boys On The Web's Sammy Case, Superstar, MilitaryClassifieds's Military Maneuvers: Covert Operations #1, Bobby Boy Productions' Straight Marines #3, Indigo Male Productions' Detroit Fuck City #2, and Teen Male Videos's Tommy & Friends. Sneek Peek was also the top-selling amateur gay producer for both 2003 and 2004, AMVC.com said.

The top selling amateur straight videos for AMVC.com in 2004 included Devo Farlo Productions' Teen Pound #1, North Star Productions' Holly Takes 12, Basement Productions' Neighbor's Daughter #2, SweetCuties: Joy's Got Milk, and Defiant Productions' OK-Bi-Me. Amateur-Sugar, though, was the top selling amateur straight producer for both last year and 2003, while AMVC.com signed 29 new straight producers last year.

“We remain amazed at how the Web and technology rapidly changed and continues to do so,” McNulty said. "My business partner, David MacKenzie, and I are very proud of our accomplishments and how much we’ve grown since we took both of our small, sole-proprietor businesses and joined forces. We’ve made so many friends and business partners along the way and appreciate all of their kindness and generosity. Most importantly, we’re extremely thankful to all of our producers and customers because without them we are nothing.”
