AIM Tests Delayed

AIM Health Care Executive Director, Dr. Sharon Mitchell, Ph.D., told AVN.com that recent lab test results have been delayed due to an unforeseen hold-up at U.S. Customs.

Mitchell indicated that the "reagents" that are used to test in the machines for PCR-DNA are held up in Customs, which has pushed AIM two days behind schedule for its tests this week. A reagent is a substance that causes a chemical reaction.

"The ones that we use typically come from Germany," Mitchell said. "They are held up in U.S. Customs, which is very unusual, and what our laboratory is doing is borrowing reagents from another laboratory, so the best-case scenario will be the first 92 results starting from Monday will be out at by 6:30 this evening and the balance should be finished by 10:30 this evening. Or the worst case is that everything will be back by Friday morning."

Mitchell stressed that if she finds out this afternoon that the results will come in between 6:30 and 10:30 that she and her staff will stay late to process them.

"We're doing the best we can," she said.
