AFF Sends Letter to Brownback About Porn Hearing

The Adult Freedom Foundation today sent a letter to the office of Sen. Sam Brownback asking for the opportunity to present expert witnesses on behalf the adult industry at the porn hearing set for Thurdsay.

The letter, written by AFF general counsel Paul Cambria, follows:

Sen. Samuel Brownback

303 Hart Senate Office Building

Washington, D.C. 20510-1604

Sen. Brownback:

Once again the Adult Freedom Foundation is requesting it be allowed to present expert witnesses to your latest hearing dealing with information concerning the Adult Entertainment Industry.

This time we are asking you to allow AFF to provide our representatives to participate in the “Why Government Should Care About Pornography: The State Interest in Protecting Children and Families,” scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10, in Washington, D.C.

Your past two hearings have featured former prosecutors and critics of the Adult Entertainment Industry, while discounting our requests to provide attorneys, researchers, and Industry experts to present both sides of the story.

For example, researchers have shown the educational value of pornography and its role in enhancing communications between couples.

AFF also has experts who will testify that claims of “porn addiction” are “bogus,” and based on flawed research.

While adamantly against child pornography, AFF believes adults should be allowed to enjoy erotic entertainment.

AFF urges you to honor our request for participation because the Adult Entertainment Industry is most affected by the First Amendment issues scheduled for discussion at the hearing.

Please advise AFF how to proceed to appear on your witness list.

Sincerely.

Paul Camrbia

General Counsel
