Adult Video Store Warned to Close by 11 p.m.

The owners of an adult video store were warned to close by 11 p.m. or face suspension of their business license.

Medford Building Commissioner Paul Mochi told the Medford Transcript that city learned recently that the Amazing.net adult video and novelty store was staying open past its designated closing time of 11 p.m. as outlined in its business license.

The city, he said, filed a Cease and Desist Order in court to force the store to comply with its designated closing time or face closure. The store has reportedly been closing at 11 p.m.

Mochi said the court order had nothing to do with the store’s sale of adult-themed products, but with the conditions of its permit.

The store, which had been called Airborne For Men, had fought with the city in 1996 over its business license request which was denied by city officials. After a court fight, the city was forced to issue the permit and to pay the store owners’ $10,000 legal fees.

Under that court ruling, the store owners agreed not to sell liquor, provide private viewing booths or offer nude or semi nude entertainment.

City Councilor Paul Camuso said he was in a police car ridealong when he spotted the store was open after its city-approved hours.
