ODBN, which operates the Adult Store Channel or ASC for adult stores, has begun providing product training broadcasts for retail store employees and staff.
The company had been providing adult product advertising at 24 adult stores and has now expanded its services to include product training for staffers in order to help stores improve sales.
“It’s a great opportunity for the manufacturers of adult products. For the first time, they will be able to speak directly to the store clerks and managers about their products and brands, why they are different, why they sell, how they work and how to maintain, them,” said ODBN President Steve Fecske.
The training broadcasts allow manufacturers to speak to retailers by providing selling points to those who deal with customers every day. The program, Fecske said, would also help improve sales and keep employees longer.
The broadcasts will generally take place one hour before opening or, in cases such as 24-hour stores, will be on for one hour each day at times when there are few customers.
“It has to make the customer service better, the way the clerk or manager feels about representing the product and it will, in the big picture, increase sales,” Fecske said.
He said he came up with the idea after watching a training video produced by California Exotic Novelties owner Susan Colvin.
Fecske felt that he could use his network to provide the training after hours or before opening.
The way it works is that the shows are sent remotely to the company’s network computers in each store. The programs are then scheduled and played for store staffers according to the retailers’ needs.
Among the first stores to use the service will be California Exotic Novelties.
