ADULT FILM DIRECTOR SEVEN DIES

Bruce Seven, file photo \nVAN NUYS - Bruce Seven, an adult film director who helped pioneer bondage and all-girl filmmaking and also directed Ginger Lynn at the height of her adult film popularity in the 1980s, died Saturday night of undetermined causes. He was estimated to have been in his late 50s.

Seven had suffered emphysema for many years, and also suffered a stroke about five years ago which effectively retired him from active film work. His body has been cremated already, with his mother asking for no funeral services. Seven was living with his mother at the time of his death.

Once a mainstream film worker with a specialty in special effects, Seven may have become interested in adult filmmaking during the original videocam boom and began to dabble in bondage filmmaking on the side, using that to make a transition to adult film proper.

He was involved with such work as the Loose Ends series for For-Play and with some of the early Ed Powers productions as well. He worked with Lipstick Productions and later forged a deal with Evil Angel, which distributed his Bruce Seven Productions. He then helped create Exquisite Pleasures with his wife, Bionca, in the 1980s - the same decade during which he shot Ginger Lynn at the height of her popularity as Vivid's first contract star.

His illnesses, though, gave him a haggard appearance which caused many to think him older than he actually was. His stroke confined him to a wheelchair.

Although the official cause of death is not yet known, it's believed to have been caused by a combination of emphysema and effects from his stroke.
